Introduction
Employees training and development is
one of the major issuing topics now a day because this helps the organization
in number of ways. The daily performance of business and day to day maintenance
is needed to be done by some workers or employees. And this can only be done
when there is proper training and development session held for the employees.
Training and development will definitely cause in increase of the employee’s
performance. It is like a root toward a better result or success. It is
extremely important for any kind of business whether it is small based
organization having four to five employees or a Large scale organization having
some number of employees. But the main point is that the training and
development is necessary in every organization in order to avoid any misleading
activity in future. Remember that quality work can only be produced by the
trained worker. If the worker is trained and have exact knowledge about the work,
he is doing then there will be no problem in working environment. Further will
affect the business activities as a whole means that it’s not only affecting
the internal business structure but also affecting the external activities.
Employee training
Training is the essential component of
developing human resources since it is the learning process. According to Abbas
Z. (2014), training is crucial for an employee's growth in a company since some
individuals lack the information, skills, and competences necessary to complete
tasks on time. Additionally, training is a learning activity intended to help
students acquire particular information and abilities in preparation for a job
or assignment. The focus of training is on the work or task, such as the
requirement for efficiency and safety when using certain tools or equipment, or
the requirement for an efficient sales force, to name just a few (Cole, 2002).
Saleem et al. (2011) claim that
training is a planned expansion of the knowledge, abilities, and feelings
required for employees to carry out supplied processes effectively as well as
to function in subordinate situations. Additionally, training is a very
powerful method for inspiring people and transforming them into well-organized,
polite individuals, which in turn has an impact on an organization's success.
However, according to Laing (2009),
training is a sign of improving employees' superior skills, knowledge,
capabilities, and outlook, which leads to improved performance. He also adds
one additional point, namely that training increases an organization's capacity
for output. According to Singh, training is a crucial tool for enhancing an
organization's performance and effectiveness. (Singh and Mohanty, 2012).
Employee development
Employees are always regarded with development
in career-enhancing skills which
leads to employee motivation and
retention. There is no doubt that a well-trained and developed staff will be a
valuable asset to the company and thereby will increase the chances of their
efficiency and effectiveness in discharging their duties. On the other hand,
development means those learning opportunities designed to help employees to
grow. Development is not primarily skills oriented. Instead it provides the
general knowledge and attitudes, which will be helpful to employers in higher
positions. Development programs are regarded as specific framework for helping
employees to develop their personal and professional skills, knowledge,
attitudes, behavior and consequently improve their abilities to perform
specific task in the organization. It
provides knowledge about
business environment, management
principles and techniques, human
relations, specific industry analysis and the like is useful for better management of company(Drucker, 1999).
How Employee Training and Development
Enhances Employee Performance?
Employee training and development
programs are widely found to improve an employee’s performance. Organizations
offer many training and development opportunities for their employees, whether
that be online courses, or in-person courses (Saldanha, V. 2022).
The most common types of training and
development opportunities offered to employees are apprenticeships, management
training, mentoring programs, new employee training, and sales training.
But
how exactly do these types of programs improve employee performance?
Prepares
employees for new responsibilities: Whether employees are being trained in
other roles, so they can better understand the responsibilities of their
colleagues and develop a more holistic approach to the organization, or they
are being trained, so they can move into new roles, training and development
opportunities prepares employees for new responsibilities if they ever need to
take them on.
Not only do training and development
programs help employees develop the skills needed for their current roles, but
can teach them leadership skills and other vital knowledge needed to progress
in the future. Apprenticeship is a common form of training that recruits
employees as trainees with the goal to progress them to a higher role (Saldanha, V. 2022).
Teaches
employees about updates in the industry and technology: Training and
development programs also keep employees up to date on changes happening in
their industry, and on matters such as safety, ethics, or quality standards.
They can also teach employees about
updated technology and new processes, as well as how to stay safe while using
these systems, i.e. being aware of cybersecurity. Being up-to-date on what is
expected of them within their role and becoming comfortable with new efficient
technologies leads to better outcomes all round (Saldanha, V. 2022)
Prepares
employees for remote working: As organizations move away from
traditional office working, training and development focusing on working
remotely effectively and teaching employees about new processes when working
from home can make the transition from office working to home working smoother ( Saldanha, V. 2022).

resource management is training and development. For improved performance, it
is crucial for a business to hire capable and talented workers, and workers are
more competent when they possess the necessary knowledge and abilities.

their career prospects and status within the company. The HR department

and training programs, they keep talent within the company, guarantee
